The Asia Development Alliance (ADA), of which JANIC is a member, has issued a statement on the quota system reform protests in Bangladesh.

WE CONDEMN

The members of Asia Development Alliance, comprised of 33 national platforms of civil society organisations from all across Asia, are deeply concerned over growing alarming situation at Bangladesh. We have noticed that the intensity of violence against peaceful protestors demanding reforms in quota system is getting worse.

We at Asia Development Alliance, highly condemn the brutal attacks on students in Bangladesh. We demand an immediate halt of such state led violence against innocent citizens.

We further demand swift and thorough investigations to ensure justice for the victim families and to prevent any recurrence of such egregious assaults on students’ rights and safety.

Further we also express our solidarity with the families of victims and demand compensation from the state of Bangladesh for the grieved families.
