Defending Democracy and Civic Space in Asia (DDCSA) 2023 Webinar #3

As democracy in Asia is under threat, civil societies are pushing back against this trend by collectively raising voices and concerns in order to defend and expand civic space.

JANIC is hosting a series of FREE online talk events “Defending Democracy and Civic Space in Asia” (DDCSA) by inviting guest speakers from key CSO partners in Asia. Each session will provide keen insights on how to defend civic space in a time of COVID-19 pandemic with a focus on SDG16+.

The third session will be on “Regional Human Rights Instruments”. We will discuss the characteristics of human rights mechanisms by region, comparing systems with advanced human rights protection and those that are still in the process of development.

-Improve the state of democracy and civic space in Asia in a concrete manner,

-Empower citizens to defend and protect democratic values, human rights, as well as human dignity, and
-Promote the achievement of SDG16+
